Where did you grow up and where are you based now?

I grew up in Glenhaven in the North Western Suburbs of Sydney. I moved to Melbourne in 2007 and live bayside in Seaford with my husband and two young children.

What did you want to be when you ‘grew up’?

Funnily enough, I did want to be either a Travel Agent or a Beauty Therapist when I ‘grew up’. I went down the Beauty Therapy road first, completing my Diploma and working in a salon for 5 years. After moving to Melbourne, I decided to try the Travel Industry as I have a passion for travelling and I haven’t looked back!

When and how did you transition from working for someone else to working for yourself?

Trying to find a job that was flexible and family friendly was a major factor for starting my own business. I was unable to find anything suitable and I wanted more than ‘just a job’. This certainly wasn’t the easiest path but I love what I do and have greater control, over the level of service I am able to provide my clients.  Owning my own business also allows me to work flexibly around the needs of both my clients and family.

What’s your why?

My family!

What do you love about what you do?

The travel industry is so exciting and ever changing, I learn something new every day!

There is something special in being able to plan my clients dream holiday and see it become a reality.

What’s challenged you most since being in business?

Inconsistent income! Keeping motivated during those quiet months is incredibly tough and with any new small business it takes time and I hope I can look back and know that it was all worth it!

What are some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

To succeed you need to stand up for yourself and what you believe in.

Moving out of your comfort zone is terrifying must, but the more you do it the easier it becomes.

What are some resources you or your business can’t live without?

The Internet – This is the best part about my job, I can work from anywhere as long as I have the internet.

Social Media – I use Facebook and recently Instagram, daily to communicate special deals, offers and travel inspiration to my followers & clients.

Mobile Phone- My phone allows my clients to contact me at any time should they require.

What’s one of your favourite quotes?

Don’t call it a dream, call it a plan!
