Where did you grow up and where are you based now?
Grew up in Castlemaine. Recently moved from Melbourne to Ballarat with my family.
What did you want to be when you ‘grew up’?
A mum! A nurse. I knew I loved helping people.
When and how did you transition from working for someone else to working for yourself?
In 2012, I knew I wanted to choose my own hours. Make my own rules.
What’s your why?
My family. Connection. I am passionate about supporting women through their journey into motherhood and beyond.
What do you love about what you do?
Empowering women. Offering women and their families the kind of support that our culture so often lacks during the transition to motherhood.
What’s challenged you most since being in business?
Paralysis by analysis.
Charging what my services are worth.
What are your greatest achievements to date?
My son. My marriage. 10 years in the Australian Defence Force. Climbing the Kokoda Trail with my husband.
What are some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Trust my intuition. If it doesn't feel right then don't do it.
What’s the toughest decision you’ve had to make since running your own business?
Learning when to say NO.
Deciding whether to hire staff or work through my maternity leave. I chose the latter.
What are some resources you or your business can’t live without?
Internet, mobile phone, car, massage table.
What advice would you give someone wanting to start their own business or change jobs to an industry/role that they’d love?
Start with a plan. Get professional advice. Follow your gut. Family first.
What’s something most people wouldn’t know about you?
I am the third eldest of 9 children and have 2 step siblings.
What does your ideal day look like?
Wake up feeling rested after 8 hours uninterrupted sleep (haha...yeah right). Enjoy a hot coffee in bed with my husband. Eat breakfast. Go for a walk with my son. Stretch, whilst my son naps.
Read through my 'to do' list and get items ticked off (I'm a sucker for lists & getting 'stuff' done). Planning/organising for my business and personal life. A phone call with a good friend. See clients (if it's a work day).
Eating a home cooked meal with my family. Spend time with husband in the evening. Hot shower!! Glass of red.
