Where did you grow up and where are you based now?

Grew up in the UK, moved to Australia when I was 19! I live in Wollongong, NSW now.

What did you want to be when you grew up’?

I’ll let you know when I ‘grow up’.

When and how did you transition from working for someone else to working for yourself?

8 years ago! I worked for the NSW Government for 9 years prior and I felt I had sold my soul. So I left and haven’t looked back!

Whats your why?

Flexibility with the family. The opportunity to travel when I want and ‘choice’ in any area of my life.

What do you love about what you do?

The variety and the fact I get to meet/talk to so many people!

Whats challenged you most since being in business?

Self-doubt and the occasional cash-flow issues…due to the self-doubt!

What are your greatest achievements to date?

My daughter! But on the business level, authoring and publishing my books…reaching number 3 on the best seller list (Amazon) and winning Best Small Business award at the Illawarra Women in Business awards.

What are some of the lessons youve learned along the way?

Believe in you. No-one else will.

You will fail - so much! Expect it…and be ok with it.

Not everyone likes you - be ok with that too.

Your story will inspire ‘someone’. Just know that.

Success is found in a place of uncertainty.

Whats the toughest decision youve had to make since running your own business?

Letting go of ‘projects’ that haven’t worked…even though they have cost cash/emotions.

What are some resources you or your business cant live without?

Apple MacBook pro. iPhone and the internet!

What advice would you give someone wanting to start their own business or change jobs to an industry/role that theyd love?

Have a transition plan and keep looking FORWARD. Get a coach/mentor to speed up the process and let go of trying to get the ‘logo’ right. That can wait.

Whats something most people wouldnt know about you?

I am speed-reader and usually have 3-4 books going at the same time, plus an audio book or two.

What does your ideal day look like?

Watching the sunrise with a coffee and my journal. Walking on the beach or stand up paddle boarding at the harbour before the school drop-off. Client chats/meetings followed by inspiring lunches with my ‘soul-sistas’ then a massage before dinner prepared by someone else. Within all of this, lots of laughs and hanging out with my parter/family. Oh, and a holiday or two.

Whats one of your favourite quotes?

Success is found in a place of uncertainty.

Who or what inspires you?

So many people inspire me, it’s hard to name them! As a default I would say Tony Robbins… in terms of his courses. They have changed my life.

Other biz women inspire me to be better also.

Anything youd like to add?

If I can add any advice, just be YOU! Be comfortable in being YOU. Your authenticity makes you unique and let the rest flow. Let go of the outcome and breathe.
