Business name/name of company you work for?

I currently am starting a network marketing business with Isagenix. Once I've completed my studies in Nutritional Health & wellness Coaching and Personal Training I'm hoping my business name to be H-E-A-L Wellness (heal stands for- healthy energetic active life).

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Brisbane Qld.

What did you want to be when you grew up

Growing up I wanted to be lots of things, lol. A vet nurse, a teacher, a doctor.

When and how did you transition from working for someone else to working for yourself?

I started working for myself primarily when I had kids. I still worked occasionally for others but my goal was to be able to be there for my kids as much as I possible could.

Whats your why?

My why....I have a deep passion to make others feel good about themselves. This is why for the past 19 years I have worked in the beauty industry, but for the past 2 years I've found myself being drawn to health and wellness on a holistic level. I've always been into nutrition, natural remedies, and fitness and my studies have naturally progressed to this area. Helping others regain their happiness and health is the most satisfying thing. My other equally important why is to be there for my family 100% in my health and mind, and to create a culture they can pass down to their kids and so forth. Having my own business also allows me to be there for them when they need me financially, emotionally and physically.

What do you love about what you do?

Putting smiles, energy and positivity into others lives. Being thanked because you have made such an impact on their life.

Whats challenged you most since being in business?

Owning a salon a few years ago was a very big challenge for me as I lived over 400km away. Finding staff that are as passionate and dedicated to your why was very hard, I felt I was losing my passion for what I loved most and that was to care for others, not manage staff. After selling and working for myself, things have changed dramatically.

What are your greatest achievements to date?

I'm not sure. I guess I would say being brave enough to take on a new career path at the age of 47.

What are some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

Don't let negativity blind you. Karma is a wonderful thing. Be organised and passionate. Wake up positive each day and love what you do.

Whats the toughest decision youve had to make since running your own business?

Selling my salon at a loss.

What are some resources you or your business cant live without?

My company's tools and events plus input from others in the business. A team supportive culture is vital.

What advice would you give someone wanting to start their own business or change jobs to an industry/role that theyd love?

Don't be scared, focus on what you want and the universe will take care of the rest. Be professional and others will see you as a professional, be authentic and let your passion shine.

I realise this isn't always feasible especially when money involved.

Whats something most people wouldnt know about you?

I was in the Navy for 11 years.

What does your ideal day look like?

My ideal day would be to wake up of my own accord, energised and refreshed with my hubby beside me (he currently works FIFO, so away a lot). I'd go for a run or do some meditation and then when finished help the kids gets organised for school. After school drop off I'd head to the gym.

When I get home, do some self development work for about an hour. Then work starts whether it be working with my clients or working with my team and helping them help their clients.

I'd be having a healthy lunch either with my hubby or friends or with clients. The afternoon would be spent doing income creative activities within my business, managing myself, training my team, marketing and following up clients. Work ends once the kids are home. We spend time together as a family whether it be sport, homework, or just chatting about their day. We always have a family dinner together all pitching in to cook healthy nutritious fun meals. After dinner it's more family time, once kids go to bed it's time spent with my hubby. Then bed at a decent hour so I'm refreshed and energised to do it all again the next day.

Whats one of your favourite quotes?

It's more an affirmation really:

I am so happy and grateful that now I am a fountain to those around me and myself. A source of energy, ideas, positivity, health and abundance.

Who or what inspires you?

Waking up each and every day not knowing what's ahead, it's all a bit exciting really.
