Business blogging requires some effort on the part of the blogger in order to promote the article. The idea behind this is to make the content friendlier with the search engines and thus be easily accessible.

Here are some tips to help you optimize your blog post for higher SEO rankings.

1. Quality content

Content is king and there is no denying that. Nothing beats the importance of quality content in your blog post. This is what is actually going to keep the readers interested in your posts. There are three essential features of a good blog post with high SEO.

  1. The post is informative. Every reader would want to learn something new from the blog you publish. So, make sure you provide them with the new piece of information.
  2. The post should be easy to read. The simpler a post feels to the eyes, the easier it is for the readers to relate to it and thus be interested.
  3. The content should appeal to the public. You can target a particular group of readers and ensure that they enjoy reading your posts.

Also, one trick is to include a lot of links connecting other websites. Search engines value blog posts more when they integrate connections with other sites and thus have more valuable content.

2. Getting the right keywords

Once the content is sorted, the next most important aspect of a blog post would be getting the right keywords. This is what is going to put your post high up in the search engine rankings. The key here is to think like the target audience and imagine how they must be thinking. What can they be looking for to land up on a particular post? What are the search keywords they could be using?

Find the most relevant keywords related to your article and you are likely to attract higher SEO. There are a number of tools available for this research. One such tool is Google Wheels and it gives rather interesting results and will help you determine the most targeted keywords for your article.

3. Meta titles and description

We often tend to ignore the importance of having a strong meta title or meta description. These are absolutely crucial in widening your readers’ base. The idea here is to remember that the metadata should contain the most important keywords that would describe your article. The advantage of having a strong meta description is that it tells the search engines, as well as the users about the nature of the content in the post.

The presence of a strong meta title or meta description will help the search engine convince the readers to read or go through the entire blog post. Including the keywords at the beginning of the descriptions would be an added benefit!

4. Using social media to the post

This is the era of social media. Everyone right now is associated with at least one form of the social media. This is why, if you need to get a bigger audience, you need to make good use of these platforms. This is a great medium for promoting your blog post. So, it would be a good idea to give the readers a chance to share the post with their friends or followers across different platforms, be it Facebook or Google+ or Twitter and the likes.

Once this is done, the link to the post is then posted on different social media sites and more people now are aware of the particular post. As this chain increases, the circle widens and before you know it, you have an increased traffic on your blog post. Signals from these platforms are known to connect well with Google search engine rankings. So, make visible share buttons on your article and then each time a visitor shares your post, it will be shared across different groups of people.

5. Optimizing the URL

While the content is a rather important part of the whole post, the URL is something that will lead the readers to your page and thus increase site traffic. As a best practice, it would be wise to include a couple of the important keywords on this URL in order to lead the users in the right direction. For example, let us consider 2 different URL links: www.yourblogname.com/post225 and www.yourblogname.com/cooking-tips.

Both the URLs will lead to your content if they are properly linked, but there is a major difference between the two. In the former, there are no keywords mentioned and thus the reader has no clue what the article is about before reaching the content. In the latter, however, since two important keywords are mentioned, the reader already knows the article is about cooking tips and has thus already developed an interest in the topic.
