Turn Back Time: Amazing Anti-Aging Secrets Working Women Need to Try

Lines and wrinkles are not the ends of the world, despite what you might believe.  For aging skin, try these 9 tips and tricks to make aging yesterday’s news.  Talk to your skin care professional for skin concerns and to find the best product for your skin.

  1. Beauty Sleep:

It’s no secret that getting a good night of sleep is beneficial for your health, but did you know that catching up on your rest can help your skin, too?  If you are getting premature wrinkles or age lines, maybe consider the possibility that your lifestyle is short on sleep.

Clocking in about eight hours of sleep can promote new growth of skin cells.  If you are lacking sleep, you may notice bags under your eyes in the morning.  A good night of rest can help this, preventing blood and fluid from collecting in the form of dark circles and bags.

  1. Use Anti-Wrinkle Serums

There are a million anti-wrinkle serums available on the market that can assist in decreasing fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.  In searching for a serum that is right for your skin, first find out what your skin type is: oily, dry, or combination.

Look for products that utilize vitamin A, often called Retinol, an antioxidant that breaks down skin cells that cause wrinkles.  Another ingredient that can benefit aging skin is hydroxy acids, which aid in removing old, aging skin to make way for an even toned layer of new skin.

  1. Hydrate with Herbal Water

For centuries, tea has been used in traditional medicine, but what does it have to do with your skin?  Types of teas, such as the ever-popular green tea, promote hydration and heart health.

Keeping your skin hydrated forces the skin cells to remain plump and healthy, giving you a more youthful look and lessening the appearance of wrinkles.  For heart health, green tea encourages proper circulation and decreases the body’s levels of fat, which is excellent for glowing, younger looking skin.

  1. Massage It Out—On Your Face

It seems too good to be true, doesn’t it?  But a routine facial massage can have positive anti-aging benefits.  A gentle, yet firm application of pressure in circular motions helps blood circulate and promotes lymphatic drainage, both of which slows down the appearance of aging.  If you suffer from puffy skin or age lines, an occasional facial massage can come to your rescue.

  1. Ditch the Daunting Diet

Everyone always seems to be on the latest diet, but how often do they actually work?  Instead of restricting and torturing yourself on foods you shouldn’t be eating, focus on trying to eat healthier.

Eating lots of fruits and veggies, especially those with vitamins A, C, and E can immensely benefit your skin.  If you find yourself with fine lines or wrinkles, consider altering your diet to include foods like carrots, greens, avocados, nuts, oranges, grapefruits, and the like to get your fill of skin-boosting vitamins and nutrients.

  1. Use a Good Quality Moisturizer

While you don’t have to break the bank for a good moisturizer, do try to avoid buying a moisturizer at a discount dollar store.  It is important to remember when investing in a moisturizer that you are paying for the ingredients and a formula that can mend broken skin, encourage new skin growth, and even reduce lines and wrinkles.  Any dermatologist will tell you to not go cheap when it comes to a quality moisturizer.

  1. Exfoliate Twice a Week

There’s no better feeling than the one you get after a good exfoliation.  Exfoliators rid the layer of dead skin and make way for a beautiful new layer of plump, hydrated skin cells, which is why your skin looks and feels so refreshed after exfoliating.  You only really need to do this twice a week; otherwise, you could damage your skin if you exfoliate too much.  There are many products you can choose from, or you can make your own exfoliate at home with coarse sugars.

  1. Tap On Cold Eye Cream

This trick of employing a tapping motion to apply cold eye cream beneath your eyes can help reduce inflammation and increase circulation.  The skin below your eyes is sensitive and often abused during the application or removal makeup, scrubbing while washing the face, and while rubbing various creams and ointments.  If you notice bags or dry skin in this area, then cold cream can reduce puffiness, plump fine lines, and help heal and repair damaged skin.

  1. Avoid High-Carb Diets

According to the recent findings published by the Journal of Dermatology, there is a strongly adverse relationship between carbohydrates and the severity of acne.  Eating refined carbs can cause acne to occur or become worse.  While carbohydrates are not a direct cause, there are strong indications of their damaging effect on the skin.  If you find yourself eating lots of foods high in carbs, try switching over to a diet full of fruits and vegetables, you may notice a huge difference in your skin.
